about me

My name is Susanna. I grew up in the US and came to Toronto, Canada when I was 19 to study at Bible college. I’m now a permanent resident and soon-to-be citizen of Canada, living in Toronto (with a couple of years back in the States along the way). I mostly do front end web development for a living. I love God and people and am an imperfect, always learning follower of Jesus.

That’s the very short version—of course there’s a lot more to it than that! Along the way, I’ve been turned upside down and inside out, gone through a LOT of hurt and struggle, learned to forgive, had to repent, and understood more and more deeply the incredible, overwhelming, limitless, totally free, love and grace of God. Out of astonishingly deep pain and destruction has come an equally astonishing, though by no means complete, healing. I’ve become free in ways that I used to believe were impossible. I’m a work in progress but there is progress.

Because of this, I have a passion to understand what makes people work, why we do what we do, why we experience the emotions and drives that we do, and what makes us change. Truly change, from the inside out, so we can experience the peace-filled, joy-saturated, love-oozing life that Jesus promised and God desires. Free of negative emotions, depression, fear, shame, anger, and all the many many things that often hold us in their grip. That’s my goal for myself, and my other goal, growing out of that, is to use what I’ve learned to help others in any way I can. That’s why I started this blog.

Besides that, I may write about any old thing. In no particular order, I’m into: vegetarianism (though I don’t hate you for eating meat), knitting, running, reading, writing, rollerblading, exploring nature, exploring the city, other cultures, animals, photography, music, art, design, vintage clothes, and probably some other things I haven’t thought of.

You’re welcome to contact me with questions, comments, feedback, rotten tomatoes, or simply to share personal experience. I’m always happy to hear from you.
